The workshop is open to scriptwriters, filmmakers, directors, producers, new media content creators and interaction designers.

Participants must have a minimum track record in traditional /linear film and audio-visual production or other related media (publishing, animation, web interactive contents, etc.), that is they are mainly junior to mid-career professionals; no previous experience in interactive productions is requested.

The number of participants is limited to 20 (15 with project, 5 observers). Participants wishing to attend the workshop with a pre-developed idea/project are strongly encouraged to do it in team (maximum 3 people, e.g. 1 creator, 1 producer, 1 interaction designer/developer). Participants without project take a full and active role in the whole workshop.

Dates and venue

The programme is a five-day residential workshop, to be held in Nyon (Switzerland) from the 16th to the 20th of April, 2016. The main activities of the workshop will take place on the festival Visions du Réel precincts and at the Château de Bossey, a conference centre set in a renovated historic building from the 18th century providing views of Lake Geneva and the Alps.

Participation fee

The fee covers tuition, accommodation and subsistence for the whole duration of the workshop, full accreditation to Visions du Réel. The fee does not cover travel expenses.
Participants attending the workshop in team of 2+ will benefit of a 10% reduced fee.

  • 950 CHF/person (approx. 830 EUR)
    for participants with project.
  • 625 CHF/person (approx. 575 EUR)
    for participants without project.


Up to 6 scholarships will be made available.

The granting of the scholarship will prioritize participants coming from the 12 new Member States (Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia) and from Croatia. Furthermore, the film and media professionals coming from countries of Central and Mediterranean Europe with low productiveness and small dimension – among them Greece and Portugal – will raise special consideration.

The scholarship allocation is all inclusive and covers: participation fee and travel expenses (up to max. 350 CHF).

Due to the limited number of scholarships we encourage applicants to check about available bursaries with their national authorities and Creative Europe Desks.

Participants already benefiting from another bursary for the same expenses are not entitled to a scholarship.

Application procedure

Applications are to be submitted by using the web-based application form, together with the following documentation:

  • Letter of motivation (max. 1 page).

  • Applicant’s digital photograph (max. 1 MB).

Submitted materials must be in English or have English subtitles/translation.
Applications submitted without the required documentation will automatically be rejected.

Late submissions may be accepted only in case of vacancies or withdrawals.
The candidates’ selection will be done on the basis of:

  • Curriculum vitae, professional track record.
  • Letter of motivation, according the following criteria: project objectives, career perspectives, expectations towards the workshop;
  • Geographical origin: special consideration will be raised by candidates coming from countries or regions of Central and Mediterranean Europe with low productiveness and/or a restricted linguistic and geographical area.
